Around about 4:00 on Friday I decided to call it a day, and changed into hiking clothes in Issaquah. I met Barak at MeetUp (website where you can do hikes, entrepreneur-ish talks, happy hours, etc.) a couple months ago, and we've been hanging out every once in awhile, usually to go for a hike. He lives out in Issaquah (30 mins East of Seattle) which is in the mountains. At any rate, we got a little lost on the way down, but made it back down around Taco Time o'clock...what? I experienced Taco Time for the first time, expecting Taco Bell, but was pleasantly surprised with freshness and compost-ness. Anyways, we said our goodbyes and I headed home to do nothing for the rest of the night.
In an attempt to prepared for a big day on Sunday, I did close to nothing Saturday, but played some flag football and stopped by Joe's show in the evening. He just joined a band, but has been doing solo acts with his guitar and vocals for awhile; I thought it was a free show, since the past shows had been, but to my surprise, and the surprise of the other people I brought along, it was 8 whole dollars...but well worth it. Joe's band was fun and chill, and we had a couple brews. The next band was obnoxious , flamboyant, and loud. Needless to say we headed out and grabbed some extra large nachos and marg's down the street before the trek back to the south side of town.
A couple hours later, we woke up for the Tulip festival, the actual event that I attended this weekend. All of the other stuff is just kinda fluff, but this is an actual real event. Kev, Lauren, Jeremy and I all hopped in the car and head up north to Skagit county. Tons of traffic, tons of unhappy children, and lots of camera's caused us to just briefly check out the flower fields. The day was a perfect, 75 degree day, with just the right amount of sun - enough to wear the SPF 60. We meandered the flowers, ran into some peoples, kicked some children, then tried to meet up with the other two cars we drove up with...and failed to meet with any of them. To make it easy, we decided to meet at the closest brewery, and believe it or not, we finally met up.
The beer was good, the roof was leaking onto my burger, and I was sitting on the end of the table, but it was grand. I chugged two beers quickly to get a little buzz, thinking that we were staying there for awhile, and I would sober up by the time I needed to drive; I was informed shortly after guzzling the second beer that we were going to another brewery on the way home, so we needed to leave...luckily Jeremy decided to drink responsibly, and agreed to drive to the next brewery if I drove home (we're safe people). Anyways, we ended up driving to the end of the world in Mukilteo, WA and the view was unreal (see picture below). They all drank, we played Euker, and watched the sunset and made out...? When Jeremy and I got home, we tried to watch an episode of Breaking Bad, our new Netflix show, but passed out immediately.
A great weekend, and I actually had something to write about! Let's see how long I can do this for! Next weekend (it's already past next weekend as I'm writing this...) I'm celebrating Alex's birthday with her on Saturday, and it's Easter on Sunday, so get ready!
See ya in the next season
